Dating Tips

Getting back on the dating scene can seem overwhelming, especially when reflecting on meeting
someone new. Timing may also be an issue. However, it is important to be open and remain positive
about dating. There will never be the perfect opportunity to start dating. It is important to captivate the
moment and put yourself out there, sooner than later. Here are a few dating tips, as well as resources
on dating.

Dating Tips

  • Be yourself – don’t be afraid to be yourself. Encompass the attitude “this is me and if he/she

likes it, great. If not, that’s okay too. Confidence is key.

  • Don’t badmouth prior relationships – vent to your family and/or friends, not to your dates. No

one wants to hear about your last relationship. Talking bad about your past relationship makes a
person appear angry and bitter – two very unattractive qualities.

  • Limit how much you talk about your children – when you begin dating, it is important that you

learn more about your date and vice versa. Focus on you as a person, and not solely as a single
parent.

  • Set the right expectations and boundaries, from the beginning – go out and have fun. It is

important to engage with people that can enrich your life and that can forward your thinking.
Remember when having fun, to set effective boundaries and have mutual expectations.

  • Trust your instincts – always go with your gut feelings. Allow your intuition to be your guide.
